Professor Duan Baoyan earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Xidian University, where he later served as President. He currently holds the position of Chairman at the China Antenna System Industry Alliance, serves as the Chief Scientist of the 973 Project, and is a Fellow of both the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Chinese Institute of Electronics. In addition to his role as Director of the Editorial Board of Electro-Mechanical Engineering, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Engineering and sits on the Editorial Boards of over ten domestic and international academic journals, including the International Journal of ACTA Astronautics.
Dedicated to teaching and research in electronic and mechanical engineering, Professor Duan has pioneered a new research area in China focused on the electromechanical coupling of electronic equipment. He has developed the field coupling theoretical model that interlinks the electromagnetic field, structural displacement field, and temperature field. This model has unveiled how mechanical structural factors affect electrical properties and has introduced a theory and methods for electromechanical coupling design based on the field coupling model and effects. These contributions have been instrumental in several major national projects.
With more than 400 journal papers published, Professor Duan Baoyan is a prolific scholar. He has been invited to present at international conferences 15 times, authored 6 monographs, received over 12,000 citations for his publications, and holds more than 40 patents.
