Prof. Yangsheng Xu

Professor Xu Yangsheng is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania and then worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong for many years. In 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen after a global selection.

Professor Xu's research includes robotics and artificial intelligence. He has been interested in space robotics, service robotics, robot language, wearable interface, intelligent vehicles and self-learning systems. He has published 6 books, and over 300 papers in international journals in these areas. He is Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of EU Academy of Sciences, Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 14 November 2016, a main-belt asteroid 59425 was named by Xu-Yangsheng in recognition of his contributions to science and education.
